Thanks to the following challenges for the inspiration. Please visit them for more details and some great writing. (Please note, I did use SOUL instead of SPIRIT–I liked the way it sounded.

red is the color of passion

yearning for passion

pouting petals come alive

lips red with desire

After yesterday’s dark contribution (red decay) I thought I’d offer a slightly less depressing piece. Visit dVerse Poets for details about their Seeing Red Challenge and to read other great pieces.

Thanks to Putting My Feet in the Dirt for giving me the perfect prompt (pouting petals) for this second chance.

Desires: Lost or Found

Enflamed and engorged

My heart beats a bloody red

Echoing desires

For the delights of lost nights

Or the release of found days

blood-clipart-heart-461802-2978619This Tanka was inspired by two separate challenges. First, I love the phrase “echoing desires,” which was our challenge phrase from Putting My Feet in the Dirt. Secondly, Reena’s challenge to think about perspective got me thinking about the complicated idea of desire. Desire is very much a two- (or more) sided emotion. Individually, desire can lead to ecstasy but it also can leave us searching for an escape. As a collective, one person’s delight can be another person’s nightmare. In some ways, it’s all about perspective. So, those thoughts translated as this piece. Hope you like it (or not) … cause that really is about your perspective 😉

Heart’s Desire

When all fear is lost

And your passion reigns as queen

The desired heart wins

This little piece was inspired by the fabulous photo provided by The Haunted Wordsmith

It made me think: What was she thinking as she looked over her shoulder? Was she considering what her life could be or could have been IF only she had been (or still was) brave enough to make a change?

And that idea connected with notions of winning and losing, courtesy of Ronovan Writes

Thanks to both. Check out their pages. Good stuff!!
