Metaphor? Simile? Musing as she stared. The future is a swirling suck hole. The future is like a swirling suck hole. Same diff. Either way we’re doomed.
Metaphorically tipping her hat to end-times, she cranked Bikini Kill.
Drowning out the lie. “Fear not we come in peace.”

I clearly am reveling in the dark this week! Thanks to Kat’s Twittering Tales Challenge for inspiring this 279 character story.
falling for Peter
Tinker Bell took a tumble
and her light went out

This fun little haiku (or this statement on the dangers of falling for an immature emotionally stunted man-child) was inspired by Ronovan Writes Haiku Challenge (tumble / tinker).

the battle goes on
but we’ve already lost
as bullets rain down
This month marks the the anniversary of the Kent State and Jackson State killings. This week, another shooter shot up another campus and the week before that another shooter shot up … and so on and so on…. Plus, I live in Florida where the @#*#@ legislature passed some truly awful things this week including arming teachers and stripping away voting rights with what is essentially a poll tax! I’m in a hopeless kind of mood and Linda’s SoCS prompt to write about something that “falls from the sky” and Fandango’s FOWC prompt “battle” inspired this sad little haiku.

searching the night sky
one pair better than just one
alone together

Inspiration for this haiku challenge comes from this great illustration: “At the Window” – Juliana Kolesova provided by Susi at I Write Her.
