Already Lost

the battle goes on

but we’ve already lost

as bullets rain down

This month marks the the anniversary of the Kent State and Jackson State killings. This week, another shooter shot up another campus and the week before that another shooter shot up … and so on and so on…. Plus, I live in Florida where the @#*#@ legislature passed some truly awful things this week including arming teachers and stripping away voting rights with what is essentially a poll tax! I’m in a hopeless kind of mood and Linda’s SoCS prompt to write about something that “falls from the sky” and Fandango’s FOWC prompt  “battle” inspired this sad little haiku.

The Future is Female

tension escalates

the battle is upon us

as she rises up

I’ve struggled this past week or so. No muse or no hope or no energy … or all of the above. The world has got me down. But I’m determined to rise back up so thanks to Ronovan Writes for the word inspiration (friction and action for which I substituted tension and battle) and Suzi at I Write Her for the fantastic photo prompt courtesy of Dani Olivier

Mother Nature’s Spring Mix

amid tones of green

she blends golden daffodils

spring’s perfect timbre

Summer hit Florida full on this week so I was a bit nostalgic for a midwestern spring until I saw that it snowed up there  this week! So here’s hoping for a real spring for my northern fam and friends and a bit more springish temps for me. 😉

Thanks to Ronovan Writes Haiku Challenge.  Our words this week are pitch and tone. I substituted timbre for pitch.
