Today’s haiku was inspired by our current situation, the Global Climate Strike, and one of my favorites – Ronovan Writes Haiku Challenge. Our words are fever and fierce (for which I subbed in raging).

Listen to the scientists and the kids!

Thanks to Susi at I Write Her for a great photo challenge.

I live in Florida, so obviously Dorian has been on my mind for the last week. Feel free to interpret this piece as a statement on that bitch! Thankfully, we got off pretty lucky here, but the Bahamas were hit HARD. If you can, think about helping. They will need it. You can find links to some legit efforts at Bahama Relief .

But I also live in Trump’s America, so (for me at least) my words have another layer of meaning. Feel free to reinterpret them or guess my thoughts, if you’d like. That’s the beauty of poetry.

Plus, never forget he’s either just an idiot or a thin-skinned shallow narcissistic purposefully-uninformed idiot. #Dorian #nevergonnahitAlabama #doctoredphoto #nicesharpiejob

Mother Nature’s Spring Mix

Summer hit Florida full on this week so I was a bit nostalgic for a midwestern spring until I saw that it snowed up there  this week! So here’s hoping for a real spring for my northern fam and friends and a bit more springish temps for me. 😉

Thanks to Ronovan Writes Haiku Challenge.  Our words this week are pitch and tone. I substituted timbre for pitch.

So Much Winning

engines went silent

the time to fly was over

mother nature won

I loved the peaceful feel of this photo by David Kovalenko but it also made me think of the orange one and his minion’s hysterical (and completely untrue) claim (let’s call it what it is—a lie) that the Green New Deal would abolish flying. This weird little haiku came out of that head space.

Thanks Susi. Read more and see the details for the haiku challenge at I Write Her.
