I’ve been struggling with … a lot these past few weeks. And as I try to dig myself out of my funk, writing this reminded me that I’ll be OK. The light will return if I let it in. (I hope.)
Pondering Happiness
happiness unfound
awake, we dream of the day
when dawn returns joy
Questions that occur to me as I ponder happiness:
- Can happiness be “unfound”? And if it can, does that mean it’s been lost or just remains unknown?
- Is ignorance really bliss?
- Is happy is as happy does?
- And is there really such a thing as the Bluebird of Happiness?
- How do we quantify happiness? Will we know when we’ve reached peak happy?
- Can we ever understand the path to happiness? Is it a result of tangible actions or just a function of brain chemistry?
- Get the mix right and smile all day! Maybe we just all need some of Mother’s Little Helpers.
I can’t really answer my own questions but thanks to Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie for challenging me to think about HAPPINESS and to Sue’s Photo Challenge for leading me to the Bluebird of Happiness 🙂

In the current world context in which everything SUCKS, I’m trying to practice gratitude. I’m not very good at it! Thanks to Sue and Ronovan for (at least) reminding me to try!
A Change is Gonna Come (Hopefully)
The world spins around
Bringing a spark of new hope
As fuel for the flames
I’ve been WP MIA for a couple of weeks. Between the heat and the constant rain and the general state of our world, I’ve been uninspired or depressed or lethargic. “Whatever” has been my go-to feeling of late. Ugh. But I’m trying to lift myself out of it. So thanks to Sue’s beautiful photo challenge for giving me a hopeful image to go along with the spark of hope coming out of Puerto Rico.
I’ll leave you with my title inspiration-Sam Cooke’s “A Change is Gonna Come.”
