Haiku & Other Poetry, tutto e niente

to become transcendent

rising together

yesterday not forgotten

but looking ahead

for the hope of tomorrow

is to become transcendent

Thanks to Colleen and her Tanka Tuesday Theme Prompt. Visit her site for details and great writing.

My tanka was inspired by current events as well as the provided theme: A Psalm of Life by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow:

“…Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time…”

Thanks to Colleen. This week’s challenge required a poem using synonyms only for the word prompts of transition and harmony so I substituted in transforms and synchronicity. Head over to her page for details and some great writing.

the day after

the mirror reveals

an incantation gone wrong

nature becomes me

Thanks to Colleen for hosting Tanka Tuesday and choosing the theme of “the day after” as offered by Elizabeth, from Tea and Paper.

And to Sadie’s What Do You See challenge for providing the perfect pic for my knotty brain!

day dreaming delay: a tanka for our times

day dreaming delay

mind caught in an endless loop

where thoughts are stolen

by fluctuating follies

echoing atrocities

This (thinly veiled comment on my mind’s status today) contribution to Colleen’s Tanka Tuesday  challenge  (synonyms only-dreaming and thought subbed in for fancy and idea) was helped along by Putting My Feet in the Dirt’s wonderful phrase prompt: fluctuating follies.
