day dreaming delay: a tanka for our times

day dreaming delay

mind caught in an endless loop

where thoughts are stolen

by fluctuating follies

echoing atrocities

This (thinly veiled comment on my mind’s status today) contribution to Colleen’s Tanka Tuesday  challenge  (synonyms only-dreaming and thought subbed in for fancy and idea) was helped along by Putting My Feet in the Dirt’s wonderful phrase prompt: fluctuating follies.

Visit them both!

red is the color of passion

yearning for passion

pouting petals come alive

lips red with desire

After yesterday’s dark contribution (red decay) I thought I’d offer a slightly less depressing piece. Visit dVerse Poets for details about their Seeing Red Challenge and to read other great pieces.

Thanks to Putting My Feet in the Dirt for giving me the perfect prompt (pouting petals) for this second chance.

memories

sun lit memories

of wine stained molten kisses

warm the bitter nights

as lips once burnt by fire

still smolder in the mind’s eye

This wonderful photo sparked memories of hot European days and nights, so thanks to  Colleen’s Tanka Tuesday for the photo and to Putting My Feet in the Dirt for offering a great prompt (molten kisses) to go with my mood.
