Thanks for the inspiration to Ronovan Writes. Our challenge: create a haiku using the words twisted and cross. I think of this haiku as my short ode to my favorite worst treaty–the Treaty of Guadalupe Hildalgo.
This Tanka was inspired by two separate challenges. First, I love the phrase “echoing desires,” which was our challenge phrase from Putting My Feet in the Dirt. Secondly, Reena’s challenge to think about perspective got me thinking about the complicated idea of desire. Desire is very much a two- (or more) sided emotion. Individually, desire can lead to ecstasy but it also can leave us searching for an escape. As a collective, one person’s delight can be another person’s nightmare. In some ways, it’s all about perspective. So, those thoughts translated as this piece. Hope you like it (or not) … cause that really is about your perspective 😉
This bit of wishful thinking was inspired by Colleen’s Synonyms Only Challenge. I used “spirit” for nature and “unhampered” for clear. Check out the details and other contributions here.
