Haiku & Other Poetry, tutto e niente

The Dilemma

my heart is willing
as it drums a feisty beat
but woe fills my mind

broken heart love sad

This little ditty was written for Colleen’s Weekly #Tanka Tuesday #Poetry Challenge No. 124 #SynonymsOnly

This week’s words are game (willing and feisty) and trouble (woe). Find the rules here.

Infatuation

Scalding to the touch

Infatuation burns hot

Scorching all reason

cigarette buts on brown soil

After five (5!!) really long days of moving, it feels good to take a short break, turn my back on the mess behind me, write a haiku, and read some blogs. So thanks for being here blogosphere! And special thanks to One Daily Prompt and fandango for the excellent inspirations (infatuation / reason).

The Bite of a Rose

a promise broken

(like the bouquet of a rose,
as sweet as sugar,
veiling the sting of the thorn)

leaves a bitter bite

dried red flowers

Inspiration for today’s tanka comes from Ronovan Writes and Sue’s Photo Prompt.

Sorry to Sue for taking her beautiful photo to a bit of a dark place, but that’s where the combo of sugar and bitter and roses led me!

Wool-Gathering in Three Parts or an Affirmation on Day Dreaming

I

aimless and sleepy
you idle the day away
gathering wool thoughts

II

wool-gathering thoughts
to spin daydreams for blankets
indulging your mind

III

to indulge your mind
and gather woolly respite
will sustain your soul

This 36 word ode to the awesomeness of idle thought is inspired by Sammi’s weekend challenge to share our thoughts on wool-gathering in exactly 36 words and Linda’s SoCS challenge.

And of course no ode to day dreaming would be complete without a shout-out to my favorite day dream believers.
