I love the Fall. I love jackets and scarves and boots and hot chocolate and blustery days. But I also love the feel of Fall. I love knowing that the changing colors and the bare tree branches aren’t just about the end of summer. Falling leaves are a vital part of the cycle of life. I also love the crackle under our feet when I’m walking hand and hand with my guy. We’ve had a lot of Autumn walks in our many years together and Autumn really does bring renewed love.
But mostly, I love the BOOTS!

memories unwind
of soft scarves and falling leaves
autumn’s love renewed

thanks for a great inspiration.
Haha….a fun ending to the prose! The haiku is so lovely and nostalgic.

A really beautiful haibun, Tina. I love your haiku and the comparison of the soft scarf and the soft leaves falling!

I too am a huge fan of autumn, with the ‘jackets and scarves and boots and hot chocolate and blustery days’. It’s far too short for me, but I mostly love the boots and can continue to wear them throughout winter! I love the way memories unwind – just like scarves – in your haiku, Tina.

You’re most welcome, Tina. Sadly my favourite pair of Doc Martens came to the end of its life last year, but I do have another pair to take its place!

Never experienced fall myself but your amazing haibun tells me it is an awesome season.

This was a lot of fun and a lot of nostalgia. I haven’t had to think about boots in years. It’s just too hot here. But I do miss the snow and the mud and splashing rain during the fall when living up north.

I lived in Florida for a few years. Among other things, it is too darn hot for me. I’m happy to be back up north.

Florida is rough. I went to grad school in Boca Raton (FAU). The winter there was tolerable, but the rest was ick to torment. Thanks for your comment.

We were on the other coast- St. Petersburg. The approximately 4 weeks of winter was nice but ugh the rest of the year. 🥵

I also love boots, the kind I can slip on right before I head out the door!
