Drink Me was her—admittedly, completely unoriginal—first thought. But really what else does one think when one sees a tiny door. If reading had taught her anything it was that tiny doors lead to magical places full of lovely flowers and great adventures. Intent on finding the beautiful bottle that she knew MUST be nearby, she didn’t see the bark begin to ripple. Sadly, little Allie had forgotten another important lesson about magical doors: they often have guards. Before she could even think “what a curious feeling,” she felt its arms around her. Now it’s her turn to wait.

Oh! Nicely done, Tina! One must be alert to it all – so hard when one is intent on one thing.

I’m sure Allie will be fine. Thank goodness some trees have protective spirits. If only they all could have such protections against chainsaws and bulldozers :(

I would be like Allie, looking for the magic and not see the danger. Hopefully, her wait won’t be long. Very creative tale!

Oh! the wait is going to be exciting. I love tree spirits. Before the advent of institutionalized religion, Nature had spirits in everything. Very sacred. Love your story, Tina.

Oh, the decoy strategy… Will Allie get free? Who is guarding the magical door? Will she try again to enter? There are so many questions!

Oh dear. I hope there are indeed ‘lovely flowers and great adventures’ available to her while she waits in that tree. That was a great twist. And the story had me intrigued from the opening words.

A delightful take on the prompt! I would be right beside Allie looking for the “treasure” behind the door. Nicely done.

Let’s be honest here. If I saw a small door on a tree, I’d be on that thing in a second! Who could possibly resist?
Great fun take, Tina!

It seems I’m one of the few who didn’t realize it was a door :) Your story has an Alice in Wonderland feel, but a totally different and scary ending!

I admit I shamelessly stole the curious line from Alice 😉

Ohhh what a cleverly spun tale! Yes indeed, one must be so mindful of the trips and traps that lurk about where wee doors are concerned. Nicely done.
