Zucchini Dreams

Once upon a pumpkin

The harsh weight of the blade fell

Oh! Jack O’ Lantern!

Whimpered the zucchini squash

Am I to be the next slice!

  1. Hah! Many many years ago, we lived on 30 acres of land in rural Iowa. Having grown up in Chicago, my husband went a little crazy planting our first garden. We had enough beets to feed the world! And the memory that is rekindled with your post, are the trailing intertwining vines of the pumpkins and the zuchinni squash! Some of the zucchini got hidden in the vines and by the time we found them, they could have been used as doorstops! 🙂 Thanks for the memories!

    1. I spent most of my 55 years in central Illinois. And I still have a love/hate relationship with zucchini! We didn’t garden but we knew lots of people that did. The first gift loaf of zucchini bread was good but by loaf 5!! No!!
