Haiku & Other Poetry, tutto e niente

on the threshold

an open doorway

eyes open as you step up

your heart unguarded

an all or nothing wager

endless possibilities

I was inspired by two challenges today.

Reena’s xploration challenge invited us to explore the space of Passages, Doorways, Thresholds, and/or Transitions, which dovetailed beautifully with dVerse Poets Banned Book challenge. As an avid ally for the trans/non-binary community, I was drawn to the following quote from Susan Kuklin’s book Beyond Magenta.

… my subjects’ willingness to brave bullying and condemnation in order to reveal their individual selves makes it impossible to be nothing less than awestruck.”

Check out both sites for more information on the challenges and for some great writing.

Haiku & Other Poetry, tutto e niente

liminality & grief

No longer, not yet

As my broken heart beats on

Still, fragmented, yet

Merril at https://dversepoets.com/2023/08/15/poetics-august-transitions/ has asked us to consider a transitional time in our lives. Still struggling with a recent loss, I’m in the midst of figuring out how to heal. Writing helps, when I let it.

Don’t Call Me Daisy

Awaiting their time

To spread their wings and take flight

The dashing pair sleep

This buggy haiku was inspired by seeing these rascals (pictured above) firmly stuck to the side of a building last night while walking home from dinner. Social media posting help me identify them as dasychira meridionalis. Honestly I’m still creeped out by them but I wish them well as they transition to this.

And thanks to Ronovan Writes for the perfect prompts (hope/dash) for my new buggy friends! I substituted awaiting for hoping because I liked the way it sounded.
