memories

sun lit memories

of wine stained molten kisses

warm the bitter nights

as lips once burnt by fire

still smolder in the mind’s eye

This wonderful photo sparked memories of hot European days and nights, so thanks to  Colleen’s Tanka Tuesday for the photo and to Putting My Feet in the Dirt for offering a great prompt (molten kisses) to go with my mood.

Haiku & Other Poetry, tutto e niente

looking for love & harmony

to spark devotion

and banish cacophony

the birds joined their calls

and sang a sweet melody

in unity with the trees

Thanks to Colleen’s Tanka Tuesday Synonyms Only Challenge

Our words for today are “love” and “harmony” and my synonyms are “devotion” and “unity.” ‘Twas fun but hard!

Haiku & Other Poetry, tutto e niente

bones of our past

to defy ennui

a message in a bottle

washed ashore today

bearing the bones of our past

as starkly bleached harbingers

This bleak message was written as a response to the image by S. Hermann & F. Richter from Pixabay courtesy of the wonderful Colleen’s Tanka Tuesday Poetry Photo Challenge. Click for details and other contributions.

For some reason, this week’s photo reminded of this old movie!  I think it’s more likely she’ll be covered in rising oceans not sand, but still ….

“Damn you all to hell…”

Burning in Plain Sight

as we spin a tale

the beauty of youth turns foul

burning in plain sight

Thanks to Colleen’s Poetry Challenge for the opportunity to shout into the wind about climate change!!

Today’s challenge was to write a poem using synonyms for the two challenge words. I used “beauty” for pretty and and “foul” for ugly.
