Thanks for the inspiration to Ronovan Writes. Our challenge: create a haiku using the words twisted and cross. I think of this haiku as my short ode to my favorite worst treaty–the Treaty of Guadalupe Hildalgo.

The calm between the beats
bestows beauty too
Working on appreciating the “now.” Thanks for the inspiration.
Written for the Ronovan Writes Haiku Challenge. Our words were quiet (for which I substituted “calm”) and beauty.
Awaiting their time
To spread their wings and take flight
The dashing pair sleep
This buggy haiku was inspired by seeing these rascals (pictured above) firmly stuck to the side of a building last night while walking home from dinner. Social media posting help me identify them as dasychira meridionalis. Honestly I’m still creeped out by them but I wish them well as they transition to this.
And thanks to Ronovan Writes for the perfect prompts (hope/dash) for my new buggy friends! I substituted awaiting for hoping because I liked the way it sounded.
taste my bleeding heart
its sweetness drowned in fury
battered by the fight
In the words of the fabulous Dixie Chicks I’m Not Ready to Make Nice so (try as I might) not even the word prompts of sweet/heart could quell my rage. But thanks for trying Ronovan Writes.
