Haiku & Other Poetry, tutto e niente

tanka tuesday-Bashō

the light of a star

as our journey’s companion

may shine like a sun

wall of sound

the echo of time

journey’s end

Today, our Tanka Tuesday prompt is to write haiku in the style of Bashō. I’m not sure if I succeeded but I enjoyed the challenge. Thanks to Selma for hosting Tanka Tuesday.

the world is on fire

the world is on fire

but still we say let’s do drinks

and analyze raw data

but it’s an art not a science

so we take no drastic measures

as we blame social media

then we wake to another shocking catastrophe

As this might indicate, I’m full of sunshine and light this morning. HA! The muse goes where the muse goes, but I’m still hoping for a better day.

Thanks for a challenging Sunday Whirl. Check out the word prompts below.

put ’em up!

one day I’ll say my piece

and rise above the horror

one day I’ll speak my mind

and live to see tomorrow

Thanks to the dumpster fire we’re currently living through as well as the following for the word prompts (SPEAK, ONE DAY, and HORROR) that inspired this 22-word … I don’t know what it is: a poem, a promise, a threat??

Anyway, visit their sites for better examples.

as gold turns to ash

the barren branches quiver

but the green may wane

as spring can bring a swift frost

and each day may be our last
