A tale to be told?
Once brothers in law but now
eternal neighbors.

Thanks to Linda’s JusJoJan Challenge (neighbor) and to Fandango’s FOWC (instead) for the inspiration for this tale as old as time.

Dreams for tomorrow.
Fingertips tracing my face
with child like wonder.
Love growing in the pauses
as our hearts beat together.

Thanks for the inspiration to Linda’s JusJoJan Challenge (fingertips) and to Ronovan Writes Haiku Challenge (child / grow).
seeking to avoid
an unchosen destiny
she slips through the gap
like a whisper in the night
a bounded servant no more

I love cemeteries. A recent visit to the historic Oaklawn Cemetery in Tampa inspired thoughts about escaping an unwanted destiny; whether that fate is death or something else is up to the reader to decide.
But, here’s hoping that 2021 offers some respite from 2020.
Thanks also to Linda’s JusJoJan Challenge word (servant) and to Fandango’s FOWC word (avoid) for giving me added fuel for my vague thoughts.
I originally wrote this way back in June of 2018 but it still (sadly) fits my mood AND although it may be bending the rules a bit to use an old piece, it (more happily) perfectly fits Linda’s final JusJoJan prompt “chaos”.
Thanks Linda. Sorry I wasn’t more present in January but … well you know. CHAOS.

So we begin this years Just Jot January. Thanks Linda!
Our prompt for JusJoJan January 2nd, 2020, is “a picture you’ve taken in the last week.” If you don’t want to share the photo itself, talk about it. If you haven’t taken any photos, talk about a moment you wish you had. Have fun!
Full disclosure: The photo of the temperature (in Fahrenheit) was taken by my hubby–braving the freezing cold! The coffee / blanket pic is a selfie documenting my blissful enjoyment of hot coffee and the need for a blanket! And for those of you who may be worried about the potential for frostbite, no need. It’s currently 79 degrees (feels like 82). Winter’s a rare beast here in the south lands. I don’t miss the frigid wind chills or snow of Illinois but I do love the occasional brisk day! Hopefully we’ll get a few more 🙂
