autumn laps the shore
sweet and unpredictable
lavender and smoke
the mind meanders
in a purple haze again
broken memories

autumn leaves falling
days turn and the years fly by
sunrise and coffee
our breath floating in the breeze
old jackets warm and faded

boundless autumn days
burning red and yellow haze
the muddled trees weep
as the sparrows soar and sing
lifted by the sun’s last bloom

in the space between
the fury of autumn’s wind
slows the sun’s ardor

Thanks to Ronovan Writes for haiku challenge words (fury/slow) and to Frank’s haiku challenge for the equinox idea.

Autumn in Florida is … well hotter than heck! Feeling a bit nostalgic for brisk fall days, boots, and cute jackets reminded me of this day in the not-so-distant past. Sitting on our patio, wearing a sweatshirt, drinking a glass of wine–aaaah the sweetness of the cool air! So thanks Comedy Plus Wordless Wednesday for giving me a reason to find this picture.
