I’ve been largely AWOL this past month for various reasons but I’m trying to reengage, so thanks to the following for inspiring me to do a bit-o-thinking and writing.

Shout out to my always favorite haiku challenge at Ronovan Writes and to the MLMM photo challenge. The photo gave me mood and Ronovan gave me words. (I substituted viper for asp and rise for jump, but you get the idea.)

A Desire So Elusive

Fifty-nine Brings Joy

So we begin this years Just Jot January. Thanks Linda!

Our prompt for JusJoJan January 2nd, 2020, is “a picture you’ve taken in the last week.” If you don’t want to share the photo itself, talk about it. If you haven’t taken any photos, talk about a moment you wish you had. Have fun!

Full disclosure: The photo of the temperature (in Fahrenheit) was taken by my hubby–braving the freezing cold! The coffee / blanket pic is a selfie documenting my blissful enjoyment of hot coffee and the need for a blanket! And for those of you who may be worried about the potential for frostbite, no need. It’s currently 79 degrees (feels like 82). Winter’s a rare beast here in the south lands. I don’t miss the frigid wind chills or snow of Illinois but I do love the occasional brisk day! Hopefully we’ll get a few more 🙂

Flash Fiction, tutto e niente

talking to the monkey in the mirror

Quit staring at me! You’re starting to give me a complex!

Don’t blame me if people are looking at you. What do you expect!?

I expect people to mind their own damn business!

But seriously Sue, what’s with the monkey face?

These 41 words of sheer fictional genius (ha ha) were inspired by Sammi’s Scribbles challenge to use the word “complex” and by my own occasional inner dialogue.
