dreaming a new day
the sun rises over still life
awakening spring

Thanks to Sue for a beautifully calm photo. It lifted my spirits. Check her out for more great offerings and the rules of the game.

amid tones of green
she blends golden daffodils
spring’s perfect timbre

Summer hit Florida full on this week so I was a bit nostalgic for a midwestern spring until I saw that it snowed up there this week! So here’s hoping for a real spring for my northern fam and friends and a bit more springish temps for me. 😉
Thanks to Ronovan Writes Haiku Challenge. Our words this week are pitch and tone. I substituted timbre for pitch.
thunder rocks n rolls
to the beat of pounding rain
spring debuts its band

This haiku was inspired by the rainy Florida days that harken the end of our beautiful winter weather. Colleen’s choose your own words Tanka Tuesday Challenge and this beautiful photo (courtesy of Helene’s What Do You See Challenge) complemented my thoughts perfectly. Thanks!
Proud to have one of my haiku chosen for the theme of Emergence. Thanks Freya! You can find some hope for spring (and other great haiku) at Pure Haiku
shoots of deep green rise
daffodils wake from slumber
and hope springs alive
Plus (spoiler alert) there’s more coming down the road!

drops float in the air
a prism of light and color
held in a moment
before they swim to the earth
bathing the colors of spring

Thanks for the inspiration to Ronovan Write’s Haiku Challenge (float/swim) and Colleen’s Poet’s Choice Tanka Tuesday Challenge
